ABOUT

According to family lore, a three-year-old me spent a sunny afternoon in the backyard of my grandparent’s house stomping cracks while shouting “DAMN ANTS” at the top of my lungs. I was so loud even the neighbors told that story, laughing, for years.

After taking a break from my career in public speaking to work as a zookeeper’s assistant, a carriage driver, and a horseback riding instructor, it makes absolute sense that I would get my degree in Broadcast Journalism from Humboldt State University.

After working as the on-air community events presenter for Eureka, California’s Fox 29, I retired from the front of the camera to a lucrative career in PR–public radio, that is. I’ve since recorded short stories for Pseudopod and Podcastle

Storytelling has been my passion, though my first short story–about a sentient Christmas tree–confirmed I was not going to be the next big name in literary fiction. I cemented my love for speculative fiction by attending the Clarion West Six Week Workshop in 2005. My passion for the weird and my big voice landed me gigs recording short stories for Pseudopod and Podcastle. From 2013-2018 I was the editor of the Hugo-nominated semiprozine Giganotosaurus.

Now, I write fantasy and paranormal romance as Jasmine Silvera.

I started playing the cello at the age of 29. I’m still a beginner.

Lots of folks call me Eddie.

That’s a LONG strange story.
